Stress is a normal part of life but when prolonged, it may have negative effects on our health. 

What does stress do to the body?

Stress triggers the adrenals to secrete the highly active hormones of adrenaline and cortisol, which put the body into “fight or flight” mode. Over time, this depletes the nervous system and plays havoc with the immune system, digestion and the ability to wind down and relax. The effects of stress can manifest as muscle tension in the neck, shoulders or back; headaches; stomach upset; sleepless nights; poor concentration; and excessive feelings of worry or anxiety.

What happens in a Reiki session?


During your Reiki session, I spend a few minutes asking  how the session can best support you. Although I see many clients for stress & anxiety, each person experiences it differently; therefore an important aspect of your treatment is to better understand any personal triggers and areas of the body that are of concern to you.

After we talk, you lie on a massage table, fully clothed. I place my hands in various positions on or above you, acting as a channel for the Reiki (or Ki) to move through, clearing and enhancing the energy throughout the body, according to your needs. There are certain points on the body that I focus on: the head, where we hold a lot of tension and stress; the heart, where we store our emotional memories; the stomach and solar plexus, where we hold a lot of tension, stress and worry; and the lower abdomen. 

How many sessions will I need?


Many people experience benefit after just 1 session, most clients have a series of 3 sessions or book a regular monthly Reiki treatment
